Dear Brother,
I hope this letter finds you and your family full of joy, in great health, and well on your way to a successful start of 2008.

First off, I thank you for your active participation in the Central Florida Alumni Chapter of Sigma Chi (CFAC) throughout the last couple of years. Because of your generous donations of time and money, CFAC is more capable of strengthening our Bond through social gatherings (Quarterly Luncheons, The Blue and Gold Luncheon, The Christmas Dinner, etc.) and through our philanthropy efforts. Last year, Brother P.J. Stephens (Tau Tau – Washington/St. Louis ’71) and a team of Sig Alumni scored another year of success with our annual charity golf tournament, The Orlando Scramble for Kids, where our efforts amounted to a donation of $26,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network of Greater Orlando, increasing to $141,000 the amount raised for CMN during the first 5 years of the tournament. Other events you will want to put on your 2008 calendar include:

  • March 15, 2008 – Sigma Chi Day at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, with VIP on-site parking and refreshments at the home of Brother Bill Booth (Tau – Roanoke ’64).
  • April 22, 2008 – Annual Blue & Gold Honors Luncheon at the Country Club of Orlando.
  • October 10, 2008 – 6th Annual Orlando Scramble for Kids Charity Golf Tournament.

I would also like to welcome new members to your CFAC Executive Committee. Brother Tim Madden (Epsilon Zeta ‘04) and Brother Ryan Parsons (Epsilon Zeta ‘04) have teamed up to serve as CFAC Vice Presidents, while Brother Kyle Scholl (Epsilon Zeta ‘05) is now serving as CFAC Treasurer. Tim and Ryan replaced Brother Shawn Cimock (Eta Pi ’03), while Kyle replaced Brother John Schwing (Alpha ’88). These Brothers, past and present, have donated a great amount of time throughout the years to help us further our cause, and without their voluntary efforts, we surely would not be what we are today! Thanks, Brothers.

Yet, as with any past success, we must set new goals and strive to reach greater heights – increased membership, better and more frequent communication, and a more active participation in The Orlando Scramble for Kids. We not only invite you, we need you – as one of over 1,400 local Sigma Chi Alumni living in Central Florida – to join us as an Active Alumni Brother, and help us renew the ties that have bound our International Fraternity for over 150 years, and our Central Florida Alumni Chapter for over 60 years, by participating in any number of ways.

MEMBERSHIP - We need your help to further grow CFAC through your recruitment efforts and referrals. There are many Brothers who wish to be involved but have yet to be contacted – help us activate them by noting their contact information on the backside of the attached survey, or by referring them to our website, orlandosigmachi.com, throughout the year. Contact Brother Ryan Parsons (ryanparsons581@yahoo.com or (407) 702-8265) to refer a Brother or find out how else you can help us increase our membership!

LEADERSHIP - CFAC is always looking for strong leaders to help advance the interests of our Fraternity. We currently do not have an Events Chairman or Communications Chairman, so if you are interested in helping in these areas, please contact me ASAP to discuss these opportunities.

Remember that the most important Brother in the Chapter is the ACTIVE Brother. Although we need more CFAC leaders, you don’t have to be the leader to make an impact – you simply need to be ACTIVE in your involvement, in having fun, and in making a difference in any way you can. Please take a moment to complete the enclosed Membership Survey and return it with your annual dues of $35, along with any additional contributions you wish to make to either CFAC or the Children’s Miracle Network. Also, you can pay your dues online through CFAC’s website at http://www.orlandosigmachi.com/becomeamember.asp, by using Paypal or a credit card.

Feel free to contact me or any of our CFAC officers with any questions, concerns, or suggestions that you may have. May I count on your renewed participation in Sigma Chi this year?

Guard well, my Brother.
